New WHO guidelines recommend that children 12 years of age or older wear masks

The World Health Organization issued new guidelines in response to the new pneumonia epidemic, requiring children and adolescents 12 years and older to wear masks.

The WHO admits that it knows little about how children spread the virus, but points to evidence that young people can infect other people just like adults. The new guidelines state that people of this age group should wear masks like adults under the same circumstances, especially when they cannot guarantee that they can maintain a distance of at least 1 meter from other people, and when there is a widespread epidemic in the area.

The new guidelines also point out that younger children can decide whether to wear a mask according to the situation. Children 5 years of age and below wear a mask. It is recommended that they should not wear a mask under normal circumstances. The WHO stated that people should always consult the local authorities for guidelines on wearing masks.
